Visited the beautiful little town of Negaunee, Michigan this week and decided on a whim to walk through their museum. They take their history seriously in this old iron mining town near Teal Lake in the U.P.

I learned a lot walking through three stories of furniture, fabrics, journals and machines. The people are saving their stories.

I found myself wondering about the lady(ies) who carefully stitched the date into the satin crazy quilt scrummed together from scraps. Did they guess it would last more than a century?

It still shines.
