Writing for _Mornings with Jesus_

The devotion I wrote for today’s date in _Mornings with Jesus_ doesn’t show me in the best light. I like to think I’m a little (or maybe a lot) better than I really am. I tend to act nicer when I think people are watching. Maybe we all do.

That doesn’t matter as much anymore to me. Sure, I want to be kind and generous, but more and more, I find myself wanting to bring the real me – the struggling, flawed person I really am – out into the light. Doing this is harder than I thought, but I have this desire to be true in every circumstance. No false front. No more “What will people think?”

I’m not sure I can do this, but I want to, with Jesus’s help. I think He lived like that here on earth.

I would be true. Sing it, Suzi.

My husband experienced the same sudden hearing loss. They call it idiopathic hearing loss and also there is no cure and hearing aids will not help. He walks with a cane now to help with the balance problems. He has been very accepting of this new normal. He says it is because he has had other health problems that caused changes in life style, Heart and spinal stenosis. He also has a strong faith in Jesus and turns to Him for comfort. We understand your problems and will pray for you!

just read your devotional for today.

understand the frustrations and emotions of not knowing what ails you. hope and pray that by now you have found some answers and are on the road to recovery.

you are an inspiration to many!

  3. My favorite devotions–in fact some of my favorite Christian writing period–is when the author is able to bravely share his or her struggles and their less-than perfect selves with the world. It takes a lot of courage and I am so glad that you were able to share your story in this devotional.

Thank you, Joy. I spent a lot of time pretending to have it all together. Honesty wins. Maybe some people would come to Jesus if they knew they were loved already in the middle of their messes. I appreciate your kind words.

Hi Suzanne, after talking to you at N45 Writers Retreat on your last quick stopover I decided to try Mornings With Jesus. I love your devotionals Suzanne! They have such a different perspective coming from our beloved U.P. You are a true frontier woman! I picture you in your little writing place overlooking the Lake, feeding the wood boiler, etc. I am so glad I got to know you a bit from the years we were both at N45. I am privileged to know you. You encourage me to keep the faith and keep writing. Thanks for sharing from real life…since we all actually live there. Kathy Livermore (short, round, gray hair, plays dulcimer, from Naubinway)

I just finished Mornings with Jesus 2017. Since I also live on the shores of Lake Superior, your July devotional regarding the finding of agates truly hit home with me. I am working harder on letting His light shine through me.

I purchased the 2018 version, and sent one to a friend who lost her faith upon the death of her husband in 2017. She has promised to read it every day.

I identified with your devotional today because my 59 year old son who has been President of his small computer company needs to be job-hunting because his Company is being sold. I have had a struggle yielding his future to God. My son has two young men, one a high school senior, the other a 7th grader who need to be cared for through their college years. My prayers include purpose and direction for all of them, and that, in time, we all will see this has been for the best!

My love to you and your husband as you find answers to your changes!

Thanks for sharing and for helping me to understand that we are not the only ones facing challenges!

    In love,

    Gladys Arnold

Was so looking forward to your devotions in Mornings with Jesus 2019, but so disappointed to find you aren’t listed as one of the writers. Know you will be missed in the upcoming year. Hope to see you there again in 2020.

I enjoy your writings for Mornings with Jesus. Since I’m from the UP of Michigan your writings touch my heart. I went all through the latest copy of the devotional but I didn’t see any writings of yours. I hope you haven’t stopped writing for it.
God bless you in all your work.
